Overview

When you upload point clouds, raster files, and project data to Stitch3D, you're trusting us with mission-critical geospatial assets. This article explains plainly what we do with your data, how long we keep it, who can access it, and what happens when you delete it or close your account. There are no surprises here. Your data belongs to you.

Your data belongs to you

Stitch3D does not claim ownership of any files, point clouds, or project data you upload. Your data is yours; we store and process it solely to deliver the Stitch3D service to you. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your uploaded files to train machine learning models. We do not share your project data with other Stitch3D customers.

ℹ️ In plain terms: If you uploaded a LAS file of a mining site, that file is never visible to, accessible by, or used for the benefit of anyone outside your workspace unless you explicitly share it.

What data Stitch3D collects

Stitch3D collects two categories of data:

Your files and project data This is everything you upload and create inside Stitch3D β€” point clouds, raster files, multimedia, vectors, annotations, measurements, reports, and project settings. This data is stored securely on your behalf and is only accessible to you and the collaborators you explicitly invite.

Account and usage data This includes your name, email address, billing information, and information about how you use the platform β€” pages visited, features used, upload activity, and similar usage signals. We use this to operate the platform, troubleshoot issues, send account-related communications, and improve Stitch3D over time.

ℹ️ Note: Stitch3D does not collect or store the physical location data of your project sites beyond what you voluntarily enter (such as a project location used for CRS recommendations). We never access or infer the geographic coordinates of your uploaded point cloud data for our own purposes.

How long we keep your data

While your account is active Your files and project data are retained for as long as your account is active. Stitch3D does not automatically delete files based on inactivity or plan tier.

When you delete a file or project When you delete a file or project inside Stitch3D, it is removed from your workspace immediately and is no longer accessible. Deleted data is then permanently removed from our storage systems.

When you close your account When you close your Stitch3D account, your project data and uploaded files are scheduled for deletion within 30 days of account closure.

Billing and legal records Some account and billing information may be retained for longer periods where required by law β€” for example, for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention purposes. This is standard practice across SaaS platforms.

⚠️ Before closing your account: Download any files or reports you need before initiating account closure. Once deletion begins, uploaded files cannot be recovered.

Who can access your data

You and your invited collaborators Only you and the team members or external users you explicitly invite to a project can access your project data. Permission levels (view-only, view & download, editor) are set by you.

Stitch3D staff A limited number of Stitch3D team members may access account and usage data for the purpose of providing customer support, investigating security incidents, or maintaining platform operations. Access to customer files is restricted and logged.

Third-party subprocessors Like all cloud SaaS platforms, Stitch3D uses trusted third-party infrastructure providers to deliver the service β€” for example, cloud storage and hosting providers. These subprocessors may handle your data on our behalf, but only for the purpose of delivering Stitch3D's services and under strict data processing agreements. A full list of our current subprocessors is published at trust.stitch3d.io.

Legal requirements In rare circumstances, Stitch3D may be required to disclose data in response to a lawful legal request, such as a court order or government subpoena. We will notify you when legally permitted to do so.

ℹ️ We do not sell your data. Stitch3D does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or project data to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

How your data is protected

Stitch3D has achieved SOC 2 Type 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 certification which are independently audited security standards that verify our controls for protecting customer data are both properly designed and consistently operating over time.

All data transmitted to and from Stitch3D is encrypted in transit. Data at rest is encrypted in storage. Access controls, audit logging, and incident response procedures are in place and verified by our independent auditor.
